Meet Our Director

Our Executive Director

Kay Hayes brings her diverse experience in management and her first–hand knowledge of recovery and the operation of transitional recovery residences to her position as the Executive Director of Avenues 12 Women’s Recovery Houses. While her resume reflects 25 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant and three years serving as a supervisor with the American Red Cross—specializing in material support services and national disaster logistics—it is her work with women in recovery that enables Hayes to reach her full potential and share her vast knowledge and experience to help others reach theirs.

Kay’s affiliation with recovery began on September 29, 2002, when she found herself a resident of Sees–the–Day in York, Pennsylvania. Here she decided to face her problem and embrace the solution, choosing to complete a one–year residential program. In March 2004, she was given the opportunity to merge her managerial skills with her personal experience in recovery when she was appointed manager of a local women’s recovery house in York, PA. Hayes quickly developed a reputation as a highly competent and successful leader in this field; and within five years, she was manager of four such facilities (two female and two male), with a cumulative average of 50 residents.

Kay moved to Daytona Beach with her newlywed husband Jeffery, a 25–year veteran of the United States Coast Guard, in 2008. With his help and unwavering support, Kay was able to fulfill the dream of establishing a women’s recovery residence and continue her work with women in recovery here.

Widowed in 2011, Kay still lives in Daytona Beach with Avenues 12 as a steady reminder of their shared vision. As the culmination of experience, dedication and providence, Avenues 12 is where Hayes again draws on her personal and professional background to provide a transitional and supportive environment in which women will have the chance to stop the downhill spiral and begin the upward climb.
