Why Give?

The moment that the number of individuals dying every year due to drug overdoses surpassed the number of people dying in motor vehicle crashes in the same period, the substance addiction issue was officially identified as an epidemic. According to recent information released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), record numbers of people, especially women, are abusing and dying from drug overdoses in the United States.

While substance abuse continues to grow within the female population, there are very few facilities that focus on assisting women to achieve and maintain long term recovery. Avenues 12 Women’s Recovery Houses are such a place, established to fill the transitional gap between treatment centers, detox, homelessness, and living in the “real world.” This gap is difficult to navigate alone, and the success rate is low. Avenues 12 is a bridge for that gap, providing the support and resources necessary for these women to create a new life and become functioning members of society.

Why Avenues 12 Recovery House?

avenues-12-donations While recovery houses have a proven track record in facilitating this change, there is a very limited number of environments offering the structure and support afforded by Avenues 12 within the state of Florida. Modeled after successful facilities in other regions, we work in concert with court systems, treatment facilities, and the community to provide transitional housing for women who want a new start — and are willing to work for it. We offer a hand up, not a hand out. Residents are required to participate in drug and alcohol recovery programs, become active in the maintenance and management of the houses, and find work and/or volunteer in the community. All this is part of learning a new and productive way of living.

As a non-profit organization, Avenues 12 Recovery House relies on the financial contributions and other support provided by people like you. Your help allows us to continue to provide the assistance and structure these women need.

How You Can Help

Today, we are asking that the community become involved in helping us help these women who sincerely put forth an effort to change their lives. And by changing their lives, they change the lives of their families and their communities.

Will you help us help them? This could change the life of a mother, a daughter, a sister and or a friend.
